Ohio Medical Transportation, Inc. (DBA MedFlight) is a not-for-profit, CAMTS-accredited air and ground critical care transportation company and CEMS of Ohio, Inc. (DBA MedCare) is a not-for-profit ground medical transportation service. The Director of Safety & Security is a crucial member of the Leadership Team who is responsible for the overall Safety and Security Program of MedFlight and MedCare, including the development and operation of the Safety Management System for both MedFlight of Ohio and MedCare Ambulance. The individual will work in conjunction with and support the aviation vendors’ Safety Management Systems. This individual is a key contributor in creating a robust and positive Safety Culture at MedFlight of Ohio and MedCare Ambulance.

Requirements

Qualifications

  

1. Current Ohio Paramedic Certification, Ohio RN License, FAA pilot, or Certified Flight Communicator, preferred.

2. If does not currently have, will achieve safety certification (or equivalent certification) within three years of hire.

3. Five or more years’ experience in the medical transportation environment preferred; three years’ experience in either the medical transportation or safety management role required. 

4. Knowledge of aviation regulations and industry safety practices in non-aviation regulations and safety practices preferred.

5. Training in following areas preferred: 

              a. Corporate safety culture

              b. Safety philosophy

              c. Safety data collection and analysis programs

              d. Safety - training others

              e. Risk management

              f. Incident/accident prevention and investigation

              g. Human factors

              h. Crew Resource Management

              i. Threat and Error Management

              j. Just Culture

              k. Crew Resource Management

6. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to diverse groups.

7. Sound working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

8. Detail-oriented

9. Good project planning and organizational skills.

10. Demonstrated ability to assign, delegate and ensure follow-through

11. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

12. An understanding of applicable regulations and requirements and an ability to implement and track compliance.

13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

14. Ability to keep safety records in an orderly and accessible fashion.

15. Is proficient in conducting and publishing root cause analysis.

16. Must have the ability to be available 24/7 for all safety and security related matters

$89,000 - $110,000
