About this Role

We are seeking a seasoned sustainability and compliance professional to lead the strategic integration of ESG regulatory frameworks into Vodafone’s global sustainability reporting architecture. This role sits within the ‘Sustainability, Business Excellence & Transformation’ team under Group Assurance and is pivotal in ensuring compliance with CSRD, EU Taxonomy, and other emerging global sustainability regulations. The individual will be responsible for designing and operationalising robust ESG control frameworks, driving cross-functional collaboration, and engaging with senior stakeholders across markets and functions to ensure audit readiness and strategic alignment.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the integration of ESG frameworks including CSRD-ESRS, EU Taxonomy, and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive into Vodafone’s reporting systems.
  • Design and implement sustainability control frameworks covering risk registers, control testing, and assurance programmes for CSRD material topics and EU Taxonomy activities.
  • Oversee governance and controls across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with global standards and local mandates.
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, technology, and operations teams to embed ESG compliance into core business processes.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders and forums such as SLT, Sustainability Steercos, CMT, FOCC, FOCLT, ARC, Group FinOps, and others to ensure transparent ESG reporting.
  • Develop long-term sustainability compliance roadmaps aligned with corporate strategy and regulatory developments.
  • Mentor internal teams and lead training initiatives to build ESG assurance capabilities.
  • Conduct reviews of sustainability data and controls for periodic and ad-hoc reporting.
  • Coordinate audit engagements and ensure timely resolution of observations.
  • Drive innovation in sustainability controls through tool development and automation.
  • Lead project governance and delivery across sustainability initiatives, ensuring stakeholder alignment and timely execution.

Who you are

  • A qualified Chartered Accountant or equivalent with over 14 years of experience in sustainability reporting, project management, risk management, internal audit, and compliance.
  • Deep expertise in sustainability frameworks such as CSRD-ESRS, SASB, TCFD, and EU Taxonomy.
  • Strong understanding of material topics including climate change, GHG emissions, and social impact.
  • Proven ability to conduct walkthroughs, implement controls, and perform quality assurance reviews.
  • Skilled in project management, IT controls, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Experience in telecom or systems audit is desirable.
